Spring '23 - Off to a Running Start!

The Washington College Makers Union Electric Boat Team met last night, starting our semester off at a running pace! Evan McCarthy '22 returned earlier in the day to help Seyed and Brian join the three hulls and cockpit together. Thanks to our sponsor, Total Boat, our hulls are now joined in one solid unit!

New faces joined us as well at the 7:00PM meeting. Our AI & Autonomy team officially debuted tonight, preparing to modify our existing boat for the unmanned competitions in June at PEP (Promoting Electric Propulsion - hosted by the American Society of Naval Engineers).

Our new electric motor and controller arrived today. Unboxing electric boat components is always so satisfying! We brought the donor lower unit back from the shop so we can begin the precision fabrication task of building an adapter plate to mount the electric motor.

Next Friday, February 3rd, the Electric Boat Team will be meeting with Urban Grid, a sponsor for the Earth Day Jam eRegatta, for a "giant check" presentation and photo-op. From 4-6PM, we'll remain at Semans-Griswold Environmental Hall (485 S. Cross Street, Chestertown, MD) with our boat, weather permitting, for an open house during the welcoming of the Center for Environment and Society's new Director, Dr. Valerie Imbruce. Join us!
